Map of Inverness
Inverness is serviced by excellent transport links. It has its own Inverness International Airport, rail links with trains running from all major cities in Scotland as well as London. In addition the A9 is the main road that connects the city with the South. This road is mainly dual carriageway and is subject to ongoing improvements given its importance to the economy of the Scottish Highlands. Towns further north of Inverness are also connected by train and the Scottish Islands can be reached by Sea Ferry, with Inverness a good starting place for many island-hopping tours.
t is worth remembering if visiting the UK or Scotland from abroad, an economic way of reaching Inverness, both in terms of time and money, is to take the Caledonian sleeper train from London to Inverness. This comfortable passage allows visitors to leave London in the evening and arrive in Inverness early the next morning, after enjoying breakfast on board.
